STATE FIELD ARCHERY ASSOCIATION OF NEW JERSEY

 

 

The fifth regularly scheduled meeting of the State Field Archery Association of New Jersey for 2002 was held Friday evening September 13, 2002, at 8:10 pm.  The meeting was called to order by President Art Reimer.  Those participating in the meeting were Club representatives and interested Club members of the following Field Archery Clubs. ( indicated by a *).

There were 8 Clubs present.

The July minutes were accepted as printed  by a motion from Shongum and a second from Wo-Pe-Na.

 

OFFICER REPORTS:

 

Executive V.P.  James Mitchell

Jim noted that the BCRs will be receiving applications for the 2003 booklet in the mail.  The SFAA has ordered new shirts for our members and these shirts will also be available for  sale at the Garden State Expo. in Edison in January.  Jim needs help for the Expo. and he asks the Clubs to call him and let him know the day and time that they will be available to help.

 

V.P. Awards  Doug Joyce

Doug  noted that the plaques for the Outdoor States were mailed to the winners.   All is set for the marked 3D shoot at Shongum.

 

V.P Field Archery   Al Liguori

Al’s report  is enclosed with the minutes..

 

V.P.  Bow Hunting  Cheryl Mitchell

Cheryl noted that the heaviest deer trophy was not awarded this year  due to the fact that the applicants were not current  members of the SFAA-NJ.  The trophy will be awarded at our  the January meeting.  Applicants must be an SFAA member.

 

 

NFAA Director Art Reimer

Art received the ballot for NFAA elections and this will be addressed under Old Business.

 

Weekly Award   Claire  Reimer

Claire noted that the following  Clubs are  delinquent with their  payments for their shoot  money and reports:

Garden State               April  7, 2002  ($30.50 fee only missing)

Lincoln Park               July 20 & 21, 2002

Wa-Xo-Be                    July 21, 2002

Garden State               August 11, 2002 (27 shoot fee only)

 

The date  for the Vegas Shoot has been changed to February 21-23, 2003.

The NFAA is going to establish a “Shooter of the Year” award in 2003, one man and one woman.  To qualify, archers must shoot all 3 Star Tournament  events.  Target tournaments and 3-D’s Vegas 18 meter, Vegas Marked 3-D, Kansas City National Indoor , Kansas City 3-D, Atlantic City Classic, Atlantic City 3-D.  The highest cumulative score from all 6 events determines the winners.  Winners will receive $2500, shooter of the Year Trophy and profile and front cover in Archery magazine.

 

The World Archery Festival will have a total purse of  $250,000 the 3 shoots are Las Vegas, Kansas City and Atlantic City.  Anyone who participates in all 3 tournaments will have two chances to win new cars.  1.  Shoot off for a Ford Mustang  2. A drawing will be held for an additional new car, all to be held at the Atlantic City Shoot  in 2003.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Election of NFAA officers:

Art noted that Bruce Cull is running unopposed for President.  The nominees for the position of Vice President are Brian Sheffler and Tim Atwood.   The SFAA-NJ voted for Tim Atwood for NFAA Vice President.

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Shongum made a motion that all Indoor and Outdoor State Championship shooters must hold an NFAA membership.

Dover made a motion to table this motion  so it could be taken back to the Clubs, second Black Knight.  Vote on motion to table  the above motion was opposed.

The motion to require an NFAA membership in order to shoot in Indoor and Outdoor  State Championship was voted on and the motion was passed.

 

Shongum made a motion that in order to shoot any indoor shoot the archer must have at least an SFAA-NJ card, second Wo-Pe-Na.  BCR vote carried the motion.

 

GOOD  N  WELFARE:   none

 

There being no further business, a motion was made Shongum to adjourn the meeting at  9:25 pm, second by Cape May and carried.
